CARLSBAD DIBITEN COOL-ROOF REPLACEMENT
Project type: Multi-section low-slope residential roof replacement

The problem
The existing roof showed widespread surface wear, prior patching, discoloration and areas of standing water. The main residence contained two existing roofing layers—foam over a torch-and-gravel system—while the garage and porch contained one torch-applied cap sheet.
The solution
Our crew removed the existing roofing systems to expose and inspect the deck. We then installed a three-ply DIBITEN assembly consisting of a #75 glass-base sheet, a smooth DIBITEN intermediate membrane and a DIBITEN CRG granulated cool-roof cap sheet. New flashings, pipe jacks, collars and drip edge were installed as required, and roof penetrations and vents were finished to match.
The outcome
The completed white granulated cap sheet created a continuous, serviceable waterproofing system across the home’s multiple low-slope roof sections. Before, installation and completed-roof aerial photography documents the full process.
SAN DIEGO TWO-PIECE MISSION CLAY TILE ROOF
Project type: New-construction custom clay tile roof

Project duration: Three weeks

The challenge
This custom residence combined complex roof geometry with multiple pitches. The roofing specification required a traditional two-piece mission clay appearance while using pitch-appropriate waterproofing beneath the tile.
The solution
Higher Levels Roofing installed US Tile two-piece mission clay tile on all sloped sections. Two layers of Malarkey Right Start UDL protected the higher-pitched roof areas. At the 2/12 sections, a DIBITEN torch-down assembly was installed beneath the tile for low-slope waterproofing. Copper was used for all edge metals.
The outcome
Our in-house team completed the 3,760-square-foot roof in three weeks. The finished roof integrates the mission clay tile, low-slope membrane areas, copper edge metals and the home’s 28-facet architectural design. Installation and completed-roof photography documents the project from underlayment through the final tile layout.
CARLSBAD GAF SHINGLE ROOF REPLACEMENT
Project type: Full pitched-roof shingle replacement
Location: Carlsbad, California
Measured shingle scope: Approximately 5,685 square feet
Property roof total: 5,958 square feet across 14 facets
Primary roof pitch: 4/12, with a 1,440-square-foot 6/12 section

The problem
The large multi-section roof showed visible weathering and color variation across the existing shingle system. A complete removal was needed to evaluate the plywood deck and create a consistent roofing system across the pitched roof areas.
The solution
Our team removed one existing roofing layer and the associated flashings down to the plywood deck. The deck was inspected and prepared before installation of synthetic underlayment, perimeter starter strip, GAF High Definition Reflector-series shingles and GAF manufactured hip-and-ridge material. Step flashings, collars, pipe jacks and drip edge were replaced as required, and penetrations and flashings were finished to match.
The outcome
The completed roof provides a uniform GAF shingle system across the home’s extensive multi-wing layout. Drone photography documents the original condition, tear-off, deck exposure, underlayment, active shingle installation and the clean finished roof.
